Licensed Professional Counselor
Our anger… it can undermine our
best efforts at home and at work. It can cause distance and damage positive connections in our relationships. It rarely provides
a long-term solution to any problem.
In many ways, the anger-response is a hold-over from a more primitive
time; a time when it enabled us to survive attack. For better, or worse our brain doesn’t really “see” the
difference between an emotional threat (our spouse, child, or boss coming to/at us with complaints, or criticism) and a physical
threat (the guy in the dark alley).
Anger-mismanagement brings many clients to my office.
In the course of my 14 years clinical experience and training, I've developed a treatment approach that addresses
the need to manage and express feeling more effectively, as well as the underlying issues that feed the anger-response.
In the course of this therapy, I will help you:
- Identify triggers for your anger.
- Break down your anger-response into it’s parts:
- The physiological.
- The emotional.
- The cognitive (thoughts and
self-talk).
- The behavioral (what you say and do).
- Explore relationship enhancing alternatives.
- Determine and address the underlying causes.
- The genetic (inherited traits).
- The environmental (childhood experience).
This counseling will be about improving your relational quality of life at work, in your marriage and with your
children.
Go ahead and contact me. We'll schedule a free 30 minute in-office consultation
to discuss your situation and how therapy could help.
